What Beep censor actually does
Censoring is a review job before it is an encoding job: the exact passage matters, and a range typed from memory is usually wrong by a syllable. This workspace marks each passage on the waveform, plays it back, and replaces it with a tone generated at the frequency, level and fade chosen here. The surrounding audio is re-cut around the marks and rejoined, and a mark that runs past the end of the recording is refused rather than quietly dropping the tail.

Limits worth knowing

- Regions are rebuilt through a lossless intermediate and re-encoded once at the end.
- A region that starts at or past the end of the recording is refused, and a region ending exactly at the end leaves no trailing segment.

Does the recording get shorter?
No. Each censored passage is replaced by a tone of the same length, so timings elsewhere are unchanged.
Can the beep be quieter?
Yes. The level runs from 0 to 1 and the fade softens each end of the tone.
Can the original still be recovered from the output?
No. The censored passage is replaced before encoding, so the output file contains the tone and not the original audio.
